Converting to Vaping from Smoking

recgig-tobacco-5pkQuitting smoking and converting to vaping is a big lifestyle choice and change. Quitting smoking under any circumstances can be a stressful time and very challenging one, and some do opt for patches and other alternative methods. E-cigarettes have been around for years but in the last few really taken off due to their health benefits when compared to smoking.

E-cigarettes use E-liquids which come in liquid/bottle or cartridge form. All pretty easy to use with simple button functions. E-liquids come in all manner of strengths and flavours, from exotic fruits, choclate, power drink, desserts, all the flavours you could imagine, and from 0mg (no nicotine), right through to 24mg. This of course is a very high strength of nicotine intake and should only be for the very heavy smoker.

If you start using the wrong strength nicotine, especially of high strength to what you are used to, can lead to a nicotine overdose which can cause some bad side effects such as nausea, headaches, insomnia, vivid dreams, fast pulse and many others. So be careful what strength you buy and make sure its applicable to your current smoking habit, we don’t want you ingesting more nicotine, we want you to ingest less if anything. On the same hand using a nicotine strength that’s too low might have you still craving those cigarettes.

Now some packets or boxes will either have a 1.8mg or 18 mg or even 1.8%. The average smoker will need between 8mg and 12mg and obviously the greater amount smoked per day, the higher the nicotine strength needed.

This is a general guide that a lot of people use on the internet, just a quick way of working out what may be best for you, it’s not a rule, just a guide, that can help when working out the correct nicotine strength. We will be upgrading to a more personal E-cig calculator very soon.

6mg (0.6) (low) – up to 10 cigarettes a day
12mg (1.2) (medium) – up to 20 Cigarettes a day
18mg (1.8) (high) – up to 30 cigarettes a day
24mg (2.4) (very high) – up to 60 cigarettes a day

If you are just an occasional 5 a day kind of person 3mg is more than sufficient.
